About Tonya
Tonya has spent the last 25 years dedicating her life to the health and welfare of new moms and babies, as well as older children. As a professional, credentialed nanny, she learned early-on that what children ate made a difference in their behavior and their overall ability to learn and play, but it was in the last 10 years that she really began to focus on working with new moms and newborns, helping them get off to the best start possible. And in 2004, when she became pregnant with her first child, she really began to focus more on what she was putting into, on, and around her body. Subsequent difficulty getting and staying pregnant and finally another child in 2008 really made her begin to research this, and when the opportunity to become a Certified Eco-consultant, Greenproofer and Green Birth Educator via the International Maternity Institute came along, it was a natural fit and the idea for Baby Go Green was born!
Tonya has been recognized repeatedly over the last several years by her peers, her employers, professional organizations and both local and National media.
In addition to be credentialed through the International Nanny Association where she served as past Chair of their Nanny to Nanny Mentoring Program, Tonya has also been a speaker at several INA annual conferences. She has served as a speaker for the National Association of Nannies, the Valley Professional Nanny Association and for Nanny Agencies Nationwide. She is also a contributing ‘expert’ for the website Daddy Bluez, a site dedicated to expecting and new dads.
Tonya was voted the Professional Childcare Provider of the Year in 2003 and nominated for the International Nanny Association Nanny of the Year in 2004. In addition, that same year, she was deeply honored with a nomination by her peers for the National Association of Nannies Harriette Grant Memorial Award.
Articles Tonya has written have been published in several trade journals and she has appeared in Parents Magazine, Child Magazine, The Seattle Times, The AZ Republic and The Wall Street Journal and the INAVision. Tonya has also made numerous television appearances including spots on the news in Seattle, Portland and Phoenix as well as an appearance in 2007 on the Today Show for a special on the Masche Miracles (a family with sextuplets).

Imagine looking back to your grandmother’s and mother’s birth time to figure out what environmental influences you might have inherited? And have passed onto your children and grandchildren? Would you wonder what was in the air, water and food in their lives- and look twice at what diseases, birth defects, addictions there are in your family?
Join Molly Arthur from EcoBirth-Women for Earth and Birth, to hear her journey and story- a very personal environmental story. Her story relates to what we all need to consider in trying to live a healthy life and helping others to do so. We will look at the current increase in childhood chronic diseases, autism, asthma, adhd, diabetes, obesity and what is really going on here, –how is it affecting pregnancy, birth, and the health of our children? Where do we look to see what is in our very own neighborhoods that may be affecting our clients and their children’s health?
Molly will show online tools that your clients may want to use to explore possible environmental influences and she will invite you and your clients to participate in My Personal Environmental Story. Molly’s story is in Mary Oscategui’s new book: Green Body, Green Birth. Take a look at an interview of Mary and Molly together on Mary’s home page.
About Molly
Molly is a native San Franciscan; she graduated from UC Berkeley and has had extensive experience working with startups and growing networks in her professional sales career. She is the inspiration behind EcoBirth whose vision is -Relating earth and birth- caring for one natural life so we will all be well. She has a fierce desire to protect all our children and grandchildren and fully appreciate the freely given gifts of our Mother Earth. “Fearless Pregnancy”:
DR STUART FISCHBEIN, MD FACOG, BAC
Where: Online Webinar
When: Thursday August 2 2012
Time: 11:30am pacific/2:30pm eastern
Stress, anxiety and fear are detrimental to a successful pregnancy and labor and yet these things dominate conversations, media and the traditional medical community. Why is that? How can we filter the sensational from the common sensical? And what are some reasonable coping methods to alleviate fear and enjoy nature’s wonder? Dr Fischbein will answer some of these questions with wisdom and reassurance.”
About Dr Fischbein
Stuart James Fischbein, MD is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a practicing obstetrician in Southern California. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency training in OB/GYN at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. He was board certified in 1989. While trained in the standard medical model of obstetrics he had the respect and vision to support the midwifery model of care and served as a backup consultant to many home and birthing center midwives for over 2 decades. In 1996 he founded The Woman’s Place for Health, Inc., a collaborative practice of Certified Nurse Midwives and Obstetrician in Ventura County California. This was an innovative model of care for pregnant women that combined the wisdom, nurturing and experience of both professions and allowed pregnant women the dignity of true informed consent and refusal of birth choices. Research has shown that the collaborative model has better overall outcomes for mothers and their babies.
In 2004, Dr. Fischbein co-authored, “Fearless Pregnancy, Wisdom & Reassurance from a Doctor, a Midwife and a Mom” www.fearlesspregnancy.net and in June of 2010 the book came out in its 2nd edition. Dr. Fischbein has become an outspoken advocate, yes even an activist, for the right of pregnant women and their families to determine their own birth choices based on evidence based medicine and the continuation of birthing options which are disappearing for reasons that are not always ethical (see his articles and blog at www.supportdrfischbein.com ). For his efforts he has been awarded the Doulas Association of Southern California (DASC) Physician of the year award twice and was the very first recipient of DASC’s lifetime achievement award in support of pregnant women. He has spoken at several conferences on the subject of vaginal birth after cesarean section and breech and has been featured in several YouTube educational videos. Dr. Fischbein is a quoted contributor to Ricki Lake’s web site www.mybestbirth.com and on the advisory board of My Birth Team. www.mybirthteam.com
Finding that advocating for the ethical treatment of pregnant women does not always meet with the support it deserves in the organized medical community, Dr Fischbein now works directly with home birthing midwives www.birthinginstincts.com & www.birthsanctuary.com and offers hope for those women who cannot find supportive practitioners for VBAC, twin and breech deliveries. He is working to develop an alternative to the American model of over-medicalized hospital based birthing while enjoying his life as a practitioner, as an advocate and as a father raising his daughter, step-sons and horses. Dr. Fischbein is honored to join the distinguished advisory board of the International Maternity Institute.
