International Maternity Institute Launches Continuing Education Program

            SAN FRANCISCO – The International Maternity Institute (IMI) is proud to announce the launch of their new Continuing Education Program, led by their Director of Continuing Education, Jessica Brodey.  The IMI Continuing Education Program has been created to support advanced career training of birth and postpartum professionals with a variety of classes important to their field. These include the areas of: Sleep, Breastfeeding, Fertility, Pregnancy, Birth, Newborn Care, Child Safety, Health and Nutrition, Childbirth Education, Greening, Parenting, Disability, and Business and Law. 

This leads IMI to address the needs of a wide range of professionals, including counselors, therapists, baby planners, sleep consultants, doulas, birth workers, postpartum workers, nurses, lactation professionals, newborn care specialists, nannies, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, and educators.

To kick off their program, IMI is providing two complimentary webinars:  1) Busting the Myths on Breastfeeding and Infant Sleep; and 2) Understanding and Supporting Families Affected by Disability.

About Jessica Brodey

Jessica Brodey is a maternity and child consultant and educator who supports families tackling many challenging parenting issues, including sleep, breastfeeding, maternity education and preparation, and educational, health and special needs advocacy.  Through her company Eat-Sleep-Love, Jessica provides private consultations, group seminars and classes, and helps parents create and implement plans that are respectful towards all parenting philosophies and tailored to each child’s unique needs.  Additionally, Jessica mentors maternity business owners, helping them build their businesses, expand their expertise, improve their client services, and understand the legal framework for their business decisions. Jessica is also an attorney and public policy consultant with more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property counseling, litigation, and national education and advocacy to improve access to education, work, technology, community and activities of daily living for people with disabilities. Jessica has managed, developed and implemented numerous technical assistance and educational training programs for professionals, including educators, assistive technology professionals, and policy advocates.     

Jessica graduated from Emory University and the New York University School of Law.  She received her sleep training through Kim West’s Gentle Sleep Coach program and the International Maternity Institute’s Maternity and Child Sleep Consultant program.  Jessica is also a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Children’s Center for Breastfeeding, a Happiest Baby Educator trained by Dr. Harvey Karp, a Certified Babywearing Educator through the Center for Babywearing Studies, and has completed her coursework to become a Professional Baby Planner and an Eco-Maternity Consultant through the International Academy of Baby Planner Professionals.  Jessica also serves as the Eastern Regional Director (USA) of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, and the Special Needs Expert on the International Maternity Institute’s Advisory Board.  She currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her family.
